5 Common Misconceptions: Part IV - Canadian Edition

1. Canada is a gun free country
This is way off. Canada is actually rated #13 in the world for the most guns in a country.

2. All of Canada speaks French
According to Statistics Canada, 67% of Canadians speak English and just 21.5% of Canadians speak French.

3. We all play hockey
Hockey is big in Canada, but not all people play it. I, have never actually played ice hockey before. There's other popular sports in Canada though: Soccer, basketball, tennis, etc... Canadians just happen to be one of the best countries in hockey.

4. Healthcare is 100% free
We don't get a bill when we go to the hospital, but we do still have to pay taxes which go towards free healthcare. Still, it's much cheaper than healthcare in the United States.

5. Canadian's say "oot" and "aboot"
I have never actually hear anybody in Canada say that unless they are mocking Canadian stereotypes.
